Q. Who is BNMC?
A. BNMC is an IT managed services provider for small and mid-size businesses across New England. For the small company ( 2 -100 employees) who does not have any IT staff, we serve as your IT department; managing and supporting your servers, workstations, network and the Internet. For the small company with IT staff or a mid-size business (100 – 1,000 employees), we supplement your existing IT team in a variety of ways. In some cases, we manage part of the IT infrastructure (e.g. backups, Exchange mail, VMware, etc.) while in other cases, we actual as supplemental resources on project and support.
Q. How long have you been in business?
A. We have been around since 1988.
Q. How did you start?
A. BNMC was founded by technology leader Eryck Bredy. We started as Bredy Consulting and then in 1996, re-formed the company as Bredy Network Management Corporation (BNMC).
Q. What geographic markets do you serve?
A. Though we are located in Andover, MA, we have customers throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire, plus we cover Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island and even New York City. The majority of our business is in and around Boston, within the 495 belt.
Q. What business verticals do you server?
A. Our customers include all business verticals. Our largest verticals are financial services, healthcare and non- profit organizations including academia. But, we also cover biotech, engineering, manufacturing, legal, accounting, insurance, software development and other industries.
Q. How is BNMC different from other IT service providers?
A. BNMC strives first to understand your business and your current technology pain points, from the business owner / executive team down to the front line. In a sense, we act as a Chief Information Officer first, trying to understand all of the stakeholders in your company, all the line of business needs and then match the technology solution to meet those needs. Our core belief is that the technology strategy must be aligned with the business strategy first and foremost.
Q. What are small business owners concerned about most today around technology?
A. We hear two major themes from our customers. One, a lot of business owners are looking to invest in technology now to help grow and streamline their company. Back in 2009 and the beginning of 2010, we saw a lot of small businesses that held back on technology investment due to uncertainty with the economy. This really has changed over the last 12 months as companies are looking to upgrade mail and collaboration infrastructure, virtualize their physical servers to consolidate technology and introduce more remote access, wireless access and better Internet and Endpoint security. The second theme has been around enhancing business continuity, around upgrading the backup infrastructure and focusing on disaster recovery.
Q. Why should the business owner outsource his/her technology management?
A. BNMC’s entire business is optimized around managing IT infrastructure for our customers more effectively with less cost than doing everything in house. We maintain a set of professional IT management tools for monitoring and support of the technology. Plus, we have an in house engineering team that stays current with all the new technologies, has a lot of experience under their belt and maintain certifications in all the technologies that we support.
Q. What about assisting us with implementing new technology, IT project and consulting?
A. BNMC has a lot of engineering and project management expertise, from design to setup and configuration and final implementation. For example, where your in house time might not have ever migrated Exchange 2003 to 2010 or implemented VMware virtualization, we probably have done this project a dozen times this year already.
Q. What sort of technology projects do you specialize?
A. We focus around Microsoft enhancements, Virtualization with VMware, storage and switching infrastructure and backup technology.
