A couple of weeks ago, Google announced it was shutting down its Google Reader service, much to the dismay of many users. Those who rely on Google services for their email, sharing capabilities, search and more found Google Reader to be a great service that allowed you to maintain your lists across all your devices. Now that that service is disappearing, we’ve checked out some alternatives for you.
Here are a few cloud reader alternatives you can take for a spin:
- Feedspot has an interface somewhat similar to Google Reader and is easy to use.
- A mass exodus from Google Reader has descended upon feedly, which is powerful, fast and very “pretty.”
- NewsBlur has a good interface, but has recently started charging for accounts. It does, however, allow you to read your feeds on any computer and will have iPhone and Android apps soon.
- And if you really can’t get over the loss of Google Reader, The Old Reader is your best bet, as it looks very similar to the old Google Reader (hence the name).
